You can still make money and really don't need to move up, but you will find it difficult. Pay scales in everything other than brokerage is a joke. They cant keep up with the times and don't seem eager to keep up with competitors. Their main focus seems to stem on leaning on the front line more and less on innovation. You can do it for a bit....but you will burn out.
