There are many things about EventMobi that are really great, like the people and culture. Everyone is welcoming and friendly, helpful, and generally pretty down to earth. Is everyone the smartest, or most accomplished, people I've worked with in their fields? No, but everyone is genuinely working hard, fairly intelligent, and tries their best at what they do. Working with my team everyday is a genuine pleasure, and it is the people that really make EventMobi a great place to work.

One word: Management. Or should I say, lack thereof. If you're a new grad, someone early in their career, or new to the startup world, you'll find EventMobi to be a really fun and seemingly well-run place. If you're someone that is more on the senior end, have been around the block a bit in terms of experience or different companies, you'll see the ineptitude in leadership at the executive level. The company has been around for 5-6 years, but there are no processes in place, no management structure (if you're an inexperienced employee, good luck trying to get mentorship or move up here, but hey you'll have a lot of fun while you're here), and its a very top-down driven organization. Bob is way too much in the weeds and tries to be involved in the day to day. There is constant strategic changes and lack of focus at the executive level, and decisions are made reactively rather than attempting to be planned for. One day he will tell you to do one thing, and the next day he is questioning why you're doing it. On top of that, he'll have forgotten he told you to do it at all, and will have forgotten the discussion you made him have with you to try and rationalize and understand his decision. Most senior employees end up leaving EventMobi fairly quickly. Both due to lack of growth, as well as dealing with Bob day in and day out. There is no focus, no direction, no vision. The most tenured employees have been here about 2 years, and these are employees still at intermediate levels in their careers. Oh yah, if you're senior, they don't pay you for what you're worth. If they can get away with lowball offers, they will, and you'll have to fight for getting even an average market level salary here. If you're good, and you're considering Shopify, Flipp, Freshbooks, or any of the other higher tier startups in town (EventMobi is actually still a decent brand to have on the resume locally), they are much more willing to pay you what you're worth. Benefits are also poor.
