Pluspunten
he initial interview process was smooth and one of the best I’ve experienced. The company offered relocation assistance to Southern California, which was a significant perk. Lunch perks ($20 allowance three times a week) and a modern office space with snacks, beer on tap, and video games.
Minpunten
Lack of Stability: Over three years, there were four rounds of layoffs, with decisions seemingly based on personal relationships or arbitrary job titles rather than merit. Mismanagement: Leadership is overly focused on maintaining a “startup vibe” but refuses to implement necessary structure, leading to inefficiency and confusion. Toxic Culture: Flat management style (holocracy) in theory but dominated by the stubbornness of the CEO and CTO. Employees who suggested improvements were often dismissed as "too corporate." Technical Debt: The codebase is riddled with spaghetti code, feature creep, and outdated practices. QA and testing are poorly managed, and the engineering culture is resistant to improving broken systems. Overwork: Emergency 90-hour on-call shifts required multiple times a year, disrupting sleep and forcing employees to work their regular shifts simultaneously. No Career Growth: The company discourages career advancement or salary negotiation, with leadership openly mocking employees who expressed a desire to grow. Low Pay: Compensation was about 20% below market value. Product Issues: The company pivots aimlessly, with poorly designed products that fail basic standards (e.g., WCAG compliance). Their video-sharing platform is a glaring example of this mismanagement. Unlimited PTO in Name Only: Unlimited PTO policies were used to discourage employees from taking time off, with passive-aggressive company-wide messaging about "excessive" time off.
