Free coffee, casual dress, and a gym reimbursement program. You know, all those things terrible companies use as recruitment but once you’re there, you realize they were just toys used to hide the fact that the work is so terrible. Best part of the day were the coworkers we could commiserate with, but most of those people are gone (less than a year after I left) due to the crazy turnover..

50 hours a week is in the initial schedule for official documents but after your training, 50hrs sounded like heaven. 55+ is the actual expectation and that’s just in the office. Forget about the time you spend on the phone and email on nights and weekends. Toxic culture with 2 owners who have no idea of how to run a sustainable business. It is a dog eat dog environment where questionable-at-best ethics practices between coworkers, management, customers, and carriers are encouraged to get ahead. This is a turn and burn job. They want to pay minimal salaries to new people and milk them for every hour they can for a year then cut them lose and start over. It’s cheaper to do that and change the commission structure every quarter than retain and pay good employees.. ..not that they can do that anyway though because their downtown office has dropped from about 35 employees down to less than 15. Ever notice how all their social media posts are recruiting focused with a tag like #chicagojobs or #logistics? It’s because they either can’t keep or don’t want to keep top talent and high earners, but insanely high turnover is the result either way. They have no respect for their employees and they don’t want to, you’re just a number. All positive reviews are done by management, fake accounts, or people in their first week who don’t know that’s coming. They asked me to write a 5 star review on my 3rd day and I said, I did but didn’t. The excuse of “well it’s a startup what do you expect” is no longer valid after being in business for nearly 15 years. They’re all about outer appearances and surface level perks but once you peel back just 1 layer of stinky rotten Chicagu onion, the appearances break down and only a failing company is left.
