When I arrived in the valley, I met with a lot of teams, many with appealing propositions. Fathom had the most exciting business model in terms of market potential, future opportunities, and technology. It's hard to refuse to work on harnessing the state of the art in deep learning for NLP with the prospect of installing AI at the core of the healthcare system. What sold the deal for me was then the team and the founders in particular, who established a real contact with me right from the start. When I joined, the founders insisted on feedback and growth as Fathom's core values. They've fully delivered. There's a lot of attention to personal and team growth. It's demanding and often intense. But, it's one of the best teams I've met! The founders themselves have grown tremendously since I joined and it always drove a lot of trust and confidence into this venture.

Definitely a high energy team and venture. And because we need to handle HIPAA data, we have to be extra professional. Possibly not for all personalities. The other challenge is of course the technology itself and our ability to sustain the large amount of data cycling quickly through our system. I am thrilled with the technology we are building, we work with some of the best tools. But there are many challenges with training and using deep learning models in production. It's a lot of work. I don't want to be anywhere else than at Fathom right now, especially at this time, but it's not a fit for everyone.
