We get in our own way a lot. At least in engineering, we seem to be stuck in a startup mentality even though the company has grown past that – we don't have well-defined roles to help with career progression, and sometimes work assignments, requirements, and deadlines feel like the wild west.
Also, good luck keeping up with inflation. It is difficult to get any meaningful raises even while the company is making more money than it ever has.
