This review is extremely unsettling to FirstCarbon Solutions (FCS) for many reasons. No one should have to experience feelings of discrimination in any work place. FCS takes many steps to try to ensure it never happens here. First, FCS is a company that prides itself on ensuring fair treatment of all employees. To make sure that this occurs, FCS has established a Career Grades system that matches skills and education levels to specific career levels. Those career levels are then monitored to ensure that salary and compensation are competitive. This process ensures that race, gender, ethnicity, or other bias factors are NOT a consideration in salary or career advancement and that individuals at the same levels are paid the same, with limited variation for length of service and special expertise factors. We do regular reviews and audits of the program to verify that it works and is fair. Thus, all interns are paid at the same "intern level". Second, FCS has strict, no-tolerance policies in place for discrimination and harassment. Reported incidents are immediately investigated and acted upon by our Human Resources department and in-house legal counsel. We strongly encourage employees to report any such incidents, we treat all involved with dignity and respect, and we make sure that there are no negative "whistle blower" consequences. Third, FCS has an Affirmative Action Plan in which we actively work to ensure diversity and inclusivity in our workforce. As a company that works internationally and on five continents, we fully understand the benefits of bringing different viewpoints, backgrounds, and cultures to the table and how doing so makes us a stronger company. We are a company with an extremely diverse workforce and one that places a high level of value on that diversity. Finally, we are company that believes all individuals should be treated with humanity, dignity, and respect. We believe that everyone has a story to tell, and that it is important to listen. The company's mission it to creative positive impact and value, and they deliver on that both externally and internally. Working on projects that support responsible growth and development and advance the UN SDGs means that we can all take pride in our daily contributions. And, with remote work options and an open forum for career development, the company is invested in creating a positive impact in the team's lives. Despite having employees across many time zones, there are opportunities to connect virtually for "water cooler" time.

Minpunten

Positive environment. I feel like I’m part of a team even though everyone is virtual. I appreciate the autonomy and responsibility given to me and that there is support when needed. Lots of highly trained experts in their fields to parter with and all are friendly; however’ it can be hard to schedule time with them. Management does a great job checking in with team members.

Minpunten

Deadlines are tight and expectations are high. Benefits are not extensive. Sometimes project directors are too deferential to clients.
