Pluspunten
Good job security. Ford rarely fires people. They'll shift bad employees around to try to find something they can do or until they decide to just quit.
Minpunten
You will rarely get to spend a day at the office. Most of your days you are thrown around the city putting out other people’s fires at the cost of your own jobs failing. Ford sacrifices the smaller jobs so they can keep up a good image with the bigger customers. Horrible work life balance the worst I have ever seen. Forced to work a lot of weekends with no compensation or more time off later. The job center at Ford is overworked and underpaid. The door constantly revolving. Great people are frequently replaced with younger less experience hires who are OK with making less money. Salespeople make way more money than the engineers. They drive nice cars and brag about their giant houses and expensive new appliances they buy. Most of the senior salespeople can even afford giant families where their wife doesn’t have to work because they make good money. You won’t find an engineer or job center employee that can afford that kind of lifestyle at Ford. Micro management was everywhere. No trust in employees. Some of the managers I worked under were power hungry and always looking for more ways to control the employees. Some also made the workplace very uncomfortable by staring at inappropriate areas all the time. Hard to feel comfortable in a work place if a boss is actively looking down at your personal regions during every meeting. Glad I don’t have to deal with that anymore. If you absolutely need a job and have no other choice take it. But your hard work earning your engineering degree will be much more appreciated and much more useful elsewhere.
