Pluspunten
The first month was entirely trainings, which were thorough and engaging with well-developed exercises and feedback on mistakes. It felt like taking an actuarial bootcamp and really prepared me for doing the job. Interesting work, with rotations regularly available to get exposure to different areas of actuarial practice and to other departments if you wanted. The department culture was great, flexible and friendly. Supports were in place to make sure everyone got their study hours and nobody was overloaded with work during exam season.
Minpunten
The department management and department head at the time I worked there were wonderful, but the people above them were less so. With the new CEO came mass layoffs, which the company had previously prided itself on not doing. I was laid off as part of a large group layoff, but even before that I saw many other teams/departments experience the same thing, including laying off new employees who had just been hired a few months ago Before that, we had some return to office mandates from higher up which our Pricing department head was only partially successful in arguing against. Note that this department head has now left so I don't know what the new management is like.
