The colleagues I worked with were wonderful: Supportive, hard-working, good scientists.

Management was incompetent, particularly in regards to science, yet they were smug and patronising. They have extremely poor communication: either they would yell at staff for their own mistakes, or they were totally absent and uncontactable (which was better than being yelled at). Management has old-fashioned and backwards ideals and more than once I heard them express problematic views regarding religion, race, and gender. They pressure their staff to work overtime and weekends. I saw more than 10 brilliant scientists resign in the 6 months I worked there and I'm not surprised at all. The pay was not competitive. I left there with significant mental health issues and I had nightmares about work for months after I resigned.

Good employees and scientists work well together

Always told th at we are never good enough even though we are pushing OT, always passive aggressive and very aggressive. No morale, scientists resign all the time. We never get trained until someone else resigns, got told we are too 'emotional' when we try to improve team morale.
