Pluspunten

GT housing provides a nice, well kept living environment that is thoroughly maintained to ensure that housing is the least of the worries for the students at Georgia Tech. The compensation for a Resident Adviser has improved significantly over the previous years bringing the RA job on par with other RA's at other campuses. The life of an RA at GT is easier than other campuses because of the docile nature of a GT student - rarely will you find a fight occurring in the residents halls. Being a GT housing employee allows you to help students while paying for college.

Minpunten

Since GT housing is there to provide a service to the students of GT, people who work there must work around the students schedule which is not the same as a regular business' schedule. This means (for a student worker) getting to the campus early before school starts and leaving after most have left for summer break. The student will have to do a lot of paper work which causes undo stress early in the semester and can hamper grades. The consistency of the boss for a building is also variable in personality and work ethic. This will have an impact on the student's job.

Minpunten

The pay is egregiously bad. My boss would commonly talk about how teachers are underpaid while unaware that teachers actually make more than financial analysts at Georgia Tech. They have also recently instituted a return to work policy that requires all staff to be back on site 5 days a week. This has led to a lot of turnover and hiring has not kept up from what I've seen leading to overworked employees. In my 2.5 years at tech I realized that the vast majority of people are just trying to run out the clock so they can cash their pension in. This leads to very few motivated workers and it is an easy trap to fall into. Little financial incentives to progress. No end of year bonuses, little annual raises if any at all, and no senior analyst roles mean there are few financial incentives to "try". When I started they had analyst levels 1 through 3 but that abolished and everyone was put under the title of analyst. Overall I would not recommend to anyone unless you are a student looking for expirence.
