Pluspunten

- People are generally friendly. - Base salary is reasonable. Equity is worthless, don't consider in your offer. - Fine to be here early in your career. Do 2 years here then look elsewhere.

Minpunten

- Leadership is very out-of-touch. Unclear whether incompetent or just naive. - Managers expected to take over tech lead responsibilities after recent redundancies, but many of them have no technical skills. - Career progression is non-existent. Candidates are frequently down-levelled (wrongly in my opinion) during the interview process. If you are down-levelled you will NOT be able to get a promotion after joining. - Very cliquey. If you aren't part of the core social group, you'll wither away. - Management breeds a toxic atmosphere. If you have other options than GoCardless, I'd take them. This is not a good place to work.

We regret to hear about the challenges you faced, especially concerning leadership, managerial responsibilities/technical skills and career progression. Regarding career progression, we understand the frustration that can arise from unclear advancement opportunities and levelling decisions in the interview process. We are continuously evaluating how we assess and determine levelling in the hiring process to ensure fairness and objectivity in our decisions. We want all employee's time at GC to be filled with meaningful learning opportunities that help shape their career here, and beyond. The mention of cliquish behaviour and a perceived toxic atmosphere is concerning and not reflective of the inclusive and respectful culture we aim to foster at GoCardless. We take these comments seriously and will investigate further to address any instances that may be contributing to such dynamics. Every employee should feel valued and included, irrespective of social groups.

Everyone is really kind and helpful. People stay for the company culture.

Minpunten

Absolutely no upward mobility. No promotions or raises. The company is in a tough spot financially. It's very sellable but customer retention and growth is a major problem and no one has the answers to solve for it.
