They offer a 9.5 hour day, 4 days a week schedule if you like that. Carlsbad is beautiful. Many nice, dedicated employees to build relationships with.
Minpunten
Minimal communication from management. Arbitrary decision making processes. Favoritism and nepotism. When managers make mistakes that scapegoat lower level employees. You're expected to work nights and weekends to get the job done--many people work upwards of 50-60 hours a week. Since they publish mainly self-help, inspirational, spiritually based products one would expect a higher level of respect toward employees, but it's the opposite. The company has laid off 30% of it's workforce in the last two years crying lower levels of sales while the top managers buy themselves new luxury cars, travel to exotic destinations, give themselves fat bonuses, etc. Positions are eliminated and remaining employees are demoted and given 2 to 3 to 4 times their previous workload. It's "work abuse". You're given more work that you can reasonably handle. You make a minor mistake and get chewed out. You get blamed for something that isn't your fault. This environment was not what I expected from a company founded by Louise Hay. However, she has no control whatsoever and is only trotted out for special events to sell tickets where she'll speak for about 15 min. The only thing management cares about at this company is the bottom line (their own) and their egos. They laugh and roll their eyes at their customers and their employees.
