Management at the port Elgin Ontario location is awful. The hotel manager told lower management to not listen to staff members, and said that customer complaints don’t matter. The next highest manager would tell staff members that her mood affected how she treated you that day and would yell at staff members openly in front of customers. All management made it a point to not be in the building after 1pm while I was working and rarely talked to or meet with any staff member who worked after that time. On manager even hired someone for a management position without informing or telling the hotel manager. Training was an afterthought for management. Nothing was assigned in the module and they don’t give you any information about what to do until you’ve gone over the time frame HO wants, even if you ask. Most staff doesn’t get trained at all. Kitchen was always left floundering and they didn’t even have a recipe book for all the meals that was to be made, and new staff would be scheduled alone after 2 training days even if they’ve never had kitchen experience before. Management seemed like they had no experience in the job before, especially blaming and punishing staff for them changing the rules on a daily basis.
