Pluspunten
There are some very savvy people who work there, people who you want to learn from. Some good opportunities to learn new things. The product is very nice (except right after an x.0 release). Great place to work if you were a C student.
Minpunten
Their culture is "work hard, play hard" but it is really just a thin excuse to extract value from their employees without just compensation, it's fine if you burn out because you're replaceable. They fill the ranks with starry-eyed employees and try to keep you pacified with free beer, hoping you're too short sighted to figure out that the free beer is not worth working overtime. Corporate values are centered on sales and marketing, which dictate release schedules and deployments to engineering and operations, which are held responsible when they can't keep the promises that other people made. My manager had abysmal communication skills and did not understand that his subordinates needed to sleep, or simply did not care. A good percentage of the developers lack the knowledge you'd expect from someone with a CS degree. It's a boys' club through and through, I didn't expect any diversity but somehow Jive is even less diverse than I thought it would be. The hiring process does not seem very selective, it seemed that personnel decisions were made mostly by instinct and gut reaction rather than after careful reflection.
