Pluspunten
KCLS talks a lot about equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
Minpunten
The reality is they are an openly discriminatory institution, high on performative DEI, and low on hiring anyone besides white women, or providing any real accommodation for disabled people. There are sincere people here who care about those values, but for all the talk and money that upper management spends on DEI, there is very little real diversity or inclusivity. The library is dominated by white women with an ableist attitude who openly discriminate against any coworker or patron who doesn't look just like them. I couldn't in good conscience work here anymore. There are lots of other libraries with management that is more in touch with patrons' needs and respectful of their employees. Don't even get me started about the abysmal pay. Pay and benefits go down every year relative to inflation. I don't know how anybody works here can support themselves without a side job or a six figure spouse.
