I had a terrible experience with most managers. They had a tendency to openly question the intelligence and professional capabilities of interns; mind you, undergraduate and graduate students, which is the worst thing for someone in that stage to hear. When I pushed back on a manager who questioned my intellectual ability to do analytical work, I was labeled as combative and almost fired. As a result of my vocality, certain managers pretended like I didn't exist to them, something I still find traumatic in hindsight this day.
