Pluspunten

Working at Landmark has been a great first job in finance. The opportunity to enter private equity straight out of college and bypass investment banking is a somewhat unique and attractive path. You receive a broad education through exposure to all private equity strategies as well as some infrastructure and real estate. You work on a range of projects and have the opportunity to focus on areas of interest. Landmark provides great training and has a strong culture. Relative to comparable firms, Landmark has a great work-life balance. Landmark is recognized as a high-quality firm in the market. Ares’ recent acquisition of Landmark makes the firm’s position that much more attractive.

Minpunten

Analysts in the Quantitative Research Group used to be based in Simsbury, Connecticut, which was not an ideal location. However, management recently moved the analyst program to New York City.

Pluspunten

Landmark's Analyst Program was a great place to begin my career in finance. In the role, I was able to work closely with senior members of both the private equity investment team and the quantitative research group across a wide variety of interesting and high-visibility projects/transactions. You get to work on a mix of both research based projects and transactions (as a member of the investment team). Even if you have a preference for one area of the work (transactions vs. research), getting exposure to both areas is invaluable in one's development into a well-rounded professional. The best part of the analyst experience is Landmark's collaborative and inclusive culture. Immediately upon starting at the Firm, analysts are immersed in a 6-8 week training course run entirely in-house by various members across the organization. The Firm also sponsors a number of company outings (i.e. sports games, barbecues, cooking classes, holiday party, etc.) to bring together individuals from across the organization. At the conclusion of the analyst program, you are well-positioned to continue on at the Firm as an Associate in either the Quantitative Research Group or the Private Equity Investment Team.

Minpunten

At times the hours can be long. While analysts should expect to work hard at Landmark, the hours are not nearly as bad as many of my peers in similar roles at investment banks or other private equity firms.
