A genuine thank you for your feedback. LaunchCode is a quickly evolving and growing place, and I would like to address a couple points you made... In terms of staff age & experience -- it's true that LaunchCode was founded by entrepreneur (and Square founder) Jim McKelvey, plus a starting staff of a few recent college graduates. While we try to remain young and innovative in spirit, the staff has evolved to include a range of ages and a depth of experience. For example, 7 of 9 members of the leadership team bring to LaunchCode experience in sales, marketing, finance, systems optimization, management, public affairs, & fundraising. Two members of the leadership team came to LaunchCode from college. Their perspective and intelligence are respected, and we think the blend of young and less-young, work experience and new-to-career, brings a great deal to LaunchCode, throughout the organization. As further evidence of the growth of LaunchCode away from being staffed by 'college students', 15 of 34 employees are parents, who juggle family with LaunchCode's mission of finding opportunities for aspiring technologists. We know that professional development is important, for both those newer to the workforce and for those continually honing their skills. So we're investing in training, and those newer to managing others have attended and will continue to attend management training. The entire staff will continue to participate in Disrupting Racism and Building Inclusive Communities training. Regarding our outcomes and metrics, LaunchCode is neurotic about validating outcomes and tracking every applicant/student/graduate/job that comes our way. It is true that LaunchCode's current Executive Director is the 3rd person in that role. The founding Executive Director brought a lot of passion and many, many hours of unpaid work to get LaunchCode off the ground, in tremendous fashion. Our 2nd ED had tech industry sales experience, and was instrumental in implementing sustainable processes to allow us to leap to new levels of placing those we serve in tech jobs. Very unfortunately, his family suffered a medical tragedy, and it was critical for him to have a job that required fewer hours and provided the opportunity to work from home. Throughout a time of incredible family crisis, he continued to work at LC until a transition plan could be implemented. And our current ED, Jeff Mazur, has the focus, passion and communication skills to propel LaunchCode to national thought leadership in the space of providing opportunity to a diverse world of aspiring technologists. And finally, regarding pay, LaunchCode is a nonprofit, and we succeed based on the generosity of our funding partners. Our benefits far eclipse those of other like-sized nonprofits, and our salaries exceed those for like jobs at other nonprofits (we benchmark to the Missouri NonProfit Salary Survey); for jobs that are not typical for a nonprofit, we benchmark to market, but honestly do not match market salaries in those roles (such as Systems Developer). Our staff is motivated by the outcomes we achieve. Staff members move on at times to do amazing things in the for-profit world, and we're extremely proud of the growth they achieve while at LaunchCode which allows them to spread their wings.
