Pluspunten

I met some of the most dedicated, passionate, and talented people in my career during my time at Leafwell.

Minpunten

I don’t regret joining Leafwell because it was a great experience initially. However, the company quickly transitioned to a very micromanaging environment. Despite dedicating countless hours and contributing to the company's projects, financial recognition is nonexistent, and you’re treated as if you’re insubordinate for asking. This blatant disregard for employee contributions is not just unfair; it's insulting. The company operates on an absurd expectation that one person can handle the workload of several, a practice that's unrealistic and downright exploitative. I was submerged in a never-ending sea of tasks, only to be told my efforts were insufficient. This relentless demand to perform miracles, with little sincere acknowledgment or appreciation, is a recipe for disaster. Leafwell is a stark example of how a company should never operate, treating its employees as disposable tools rather than valued team members.

Pluspunten

Ability to thrive in a startup environment with minimal red tape, enabling quick decision-making. Capable of providing insights and feedback that are acted upon swiftly to drive progress.

Minpunten

Navigating varying work culture expectations across different countries can be challenging. The need to make rapid decisions regarding hiring and firing can be difficult to manage in such a dynamic environment.

Pluspunten

Remote culture, almost no micromanagement.

Minpunten

Leafwell felt less like a structured company and more like an organization reacting in real time to the priorities and instincts of the CEO. Strategy often seemed inconsistent, with initiatives launching quickly and then disappearing just as abruptly. Leadership tended to frame the resulting chaos and operational instability as “normal startup culture,” but over time it became difficult to separate that from a lack of long-term planning. Layoffs appeared to happen regularly (sometimes multiple times per year), yet the company simultaneously maintained an active hiring presence online. HR also seemed to play a fairly limited role internally, with most of the company centered around either sales or operations. One of the more surprising disconnects was that, despite being a cannabis-friendly company, leadership often felt culturally detached from the actual cannabis community and plant itself. The business ultimately felt more like a traditional profit-driven startup operating in the cannabis space than a mission-driven cannabis company. That said, it can be a valuable place to gain experience and build your resume for 1–2 years, but probably not a place most people view as a long-term landing spot.
