Pluspunten
Learnvest existed at one time and was, at one point, an enjoyable place to work. It is now NorthwesternMutual. However, there is still some little bit left of a startup feeling as opposed to the boring monotony of NorthwesternMutual - although every day it becomes more a life insurance company. All the positives that were sold to Learnvest hires no longer exist. So know you're signing up for NorthwesternMutual.
Minpunten
NorthwesternMutual's business of offering financial planning is 100% a cover for them pitching life insurance - their main business. This has been commented on in the personal finance subreddit as well as other media outlets. Its somewhat disingenuous. Learnvest no longer exists. The technology that was Agile, and fluid is now... well the technology is antiquated at best. From the 60s and hacked to work with Kubernetes and Docker is more in line with reality. Stability is not a known thing at NM. Expect your network connection to have no internet multiple times a week. Expect to be locked out of your system multiple times a month. Expect having to call Milwaukee from your personal device to get any of the above rectified. Expect having NO access to personal email. Expect nearly any website not relating to NM's business to be blocked. Expect a very conservative workforce that you'll be reporting too in Milwaukee. Expect terrible health benefits - the current benefits were rolled out as an utter disaster and the former CEO of Learnvest had to fight, literally, for benefits that weren't a step back a decade. Learnvest was acquired so that NM can have a presence (marketing perhaps) in New York. Their business model has no concept of what a vibrant cultural environment - like Manhattan - is like and pushes very hard against it. The company as a whole is very conservative, for lack of a better word, and you should be aware of that going in.
