Pluspunten
This is a good place to work if you're just starting out in the business. You will get exposure to Avid and other technologies used in video editing, so if you're into that, this might be a good place. They offer health care benefits for staff employees. There is room for growth if you put your time in.
Minpunten
The pay is bad. They lowball everyone they hire, and unfortunately so many people in the industry are desperate enough to accept their offer. The workload is immense. Expect to work 11 or 12 hour days often. There are several different sub-companies that are part of Leftfield, about 7 when I was there, and I was the post coordinator for all of them. They are notorious for underpaying and overworking their employees; my starting contract was for $950/week, 60 hours a week. Many of the employees at Leftfield are inexperienced. I noticed a pattern of hiring completely inept film crews who did not seem to know the basics. This is probably due to the non-competitive pay offered. The benefits are bad. They offered 5 days vacation after 2 years when I started. Luckily, my position was unionized and I got 5 days vacation after one year. Still bad. High turnover. People did not stay here long, not sure if because they left to pursue other opportunities or were fired.
