Pluspunten

Most of the pros comes from my time working in the California branch. They had good training and my lead was a great guy that wanted his team to expand their knowledge and be the best team. The management was good at that time, they would even at times randomly make everyone hamburgers and buy beer for everyone. There was a good sense of community there. Other pros, decent benefits, though nothing for eyes. Weird sense it's a stereo company.

Minpunten

t's been 3 years since toronto started and it still feels like it's just starting. The facility is a cold and dark environment, it might line up with other artistic companies but it doesn't feel like a place that you want to spend to long in. Over the past year everyone is worried about losing their job. The person above you acting the way they do, cold, heartless, is only because if they don't say what they need to say then they well be on the chop block. HR doesn't understand what you are doing there. Most of them don't understand what your position is and they tend to ask artists what the shows we are doing, since they don't know. They seem to be pretty unhelpful most of the time and always think of the company first, not the employ, that's not how HR should be ran. Raises don't work the way you think it should. All the raises I got were based on me threatening to quit. They don't base it off of merit or work ethic. They may give you the speech of "yah but are you just working here for the money?" Which unfortunately most of our bills are payed by money... if you become a second or a lead don't expect a pay raise, just because you work harder than the one next to you doesn't mean you get paid more. Let's say you get up higher, you may be told by supervisors to work harder so you can pick up the slack of other teams. Work on the hardest shots, work till 4am, or even go to recruitment events. These are no reason to get a raise. Most companies have you bill to a show or log into an excel sheet. At Legend you bill to a single shot and every moment is calculated. They have also a way to calculate how long you took to make tea or go to the restroom. This brings an uneasiness with artists. It makes everyone uncomfortable and let's management watch you like a hawk. While you may not get more money for working harder which they don't track very well, you can get yelled at or fired for going overbid on a shot. Don't be so upset, that lead is getting yelled at by their supervisor. Credits arnt a thing you should expect at Legend. You may get it, you might see people not working on the film get it, you may even see the same name twice because they don't double check. The credits will be at the end of the scroll, but you probably won't make it. Communication is a problem that the company has had since the beginning. I can write how much I've tried and the huge list of emails I've sent hoping it would change but I digress. All and all there are a lot of problems working at Legend. Though I couldn't have made it through the last 5 years without the people. There are a lot of good artists and great leads. I've learned a lot from them and the fantastic compositing supervisors that strive from a great show. If you work here be aware of the issues, but also get to know the people they are pretty great.
