Upper management is highly volatile and unprofessional. They exert control based on fear and retaliation rather than on encouraging and rewarding good performance. Almost everyone in the rank and file s a high performer there--yet almost everyone is subject to these unprofessional tactics. Exceptional job performance, dedication, and innovative ideas will not insulate you from management's unprofessional behavior. The executive team exerts control by keeping everyone guessing--it's a bit like Russian Roulette--you never know when the blame and the unwarranted "punishment" will swing your way.
