In my city, now all permanent contracts are a thing so the renewal problem isn't an issue, but that doesn't mean they won't still try to end your contract on a technicality if you inconvenience them, even if that inconvenience is within your legal rights. -I had to join a work union just because of these cons, since my location had a reputation for firing people for poor reasons and said work union forced them to rehire me twice. Either do it for just a year, have a "sir yes sir" work personality, or join a work union if you intend to join them.
