This company is probably the worst I have ever worked for. The job description is deceiving. What they don't tell you is that you will be working with many children who qualify as "special needs" and who have moderate to severe behavioral issues. This is not "tutoring", but closer to educational therapy using a program that is outdated in its delivery and that you are told you are not allowed to deviate from. The 10-day "training" they provide is laughable at best and barely touches on how to manage students who need moderate to severe behavior management. Additionally, the pay rate they offer is ridiculous given the job expectations and what they charge parents per hour. Essentially, each tutor makes about 10-13% of what parents are charged hourly and the tutors do all the work. In one word, this company exploits its tutors, whom they call "clinicians". At the center where I worked, there was clear favoritism, with one employee showing up 2.5 hours late pretty much every day, then spending several hours doing personal things on their computer, even during sessions with students, with complete knowledge and support of center management. This person got promoted over others who had more education experience and who actually showed up and did their work. Demoralized is a good word for how I and several of my colleagues felt at the end of work each day, and I am a highly experienced educator. The turnover rate is extremely high and no wonder. When I dared to bring up the favoritism issue to management, it was brushed aside, and subsequently, any advancement opportunities I had been offered suddenly disappeared.
