Pluspunten
I worked with a lot of good people in the maintenance department. Had a good working relationship with operations, always willing to help. My specialist and shift sups were all stand up guys. My chemical/technical engineers were exceptional to work with. I really enjoyed my fellow mechanical/electrical engineer co-workers. My Millwrights and Millwright supervisor were all awesome.
Minpunten
My work life balance was good when I first started, but as I proved myself as competent and capable, I was quickly sucked into a situation where I felt taken advantage of. My time spent at work, as a maintenance engineer, became unacceptable . My last year approached 800 hours over my regular work schedule. I had a terrible experience with management. Very much a "I'm only here to advance my career" attitude. My direct supervisor couldn't sit still during one on one conversations, he seemed completely uncomfortable. His boss was just as unperceptive. My direct management team seldom acknowledged my efforts. Me leaving seemed to be a total shock to upper managment...who seemed to be completely unaware of my dissatisfaction or the seriousness of my concerns. My concerns were mostly on inconsistency in promotions, raises, and opportunities for advancement/career progression. I did have 3 members of management contact me (2 from operations and one my chain of command), after I had left the company to thank me for my efforts.
