Specifically, on the background verification process you mention – our employment contract contains a clause which verbatim states “MSCI conducts a background check for all new hires. Confirmation of your services in the firm is dependent on successful completion of the background check”. These background checks are aligned to industry best practice and only commence post written consent and acceptance from our new hires. While the endeavor is to complete it prior to onboarding, in some cases that may not happen for a variety of reasons outside the control of MSCI. In rare and unfortunate cases where there is detection of incorrect, inaccurate, falsification or omission of material information, the individual is given a fair chance to clarify or explain them in writing. These practices are in place to ensure we operate in a fair manner, with integrity to all our stakeholders.
