Minpunten
Time entry is the worst part of working at McLeod. As a salaried employee you are required to input time for everything you've done every day in 15 minute intervals. Doesn't matter what department or role. Everyone has to do this. As an employee you are then judged based on how much time you are putting towards customer facing tasks vs admin and training time. Because of all of this you are then constantly micromanaged every day. There is a complete lack of training on how the system works and how to support the product. All trainers that are in the company are strictly for customers and are not used to give employees adequate training on how the products work or how to troubleshoot issues. The only way to learn things is by either reading and understanding walls of texts in online courses, or by asking various individuals on your team about how something works, hoping that they can provide you with an answer. Half of the time they can't which then sends you on a scavenger hunt to find an answer. For being one of, if not the, biggest tech company in the Birmingham area the tech systems are completely out of date. As an example, there is no ticketing system like zendesk to handle support tickets. Everything is done via outlook and inserted into a system that was built in house called raptor. Speaking of being out of date, the main system looks like it's from 1995 and their attempt at a browser based system is a complete buggy mess that hasn't even been released for asset based customers yet. No one even knows how to troubleshoot the web based product besides some product owners and developers. Leadership is completely out of touch of its employees and their needs. Most managers and directors are individuals who have been with the company for 5+ years and are unwilling to make improvements to how things function. Any pushback or requests for more training and tools is met with "this is how it worked when I started here x years ago". You and your teammates are then blamed for poor performance by the company even though you have not been setup for success by your manager/director. There is a lack of a clear career path. When interviewing you might be told that there are a lot of opportunities inside the company. The reality is that while there are a lot of groups and different teams inside the company, there is not a path to go anywhere from your entry point.
