Pluspunten
The workplace is okay and it gives good money with all the additional added pay from SPIFs, incentives, holiday pay, weekend pay, profit sharing, etc. The job is good and, with some training, it isn't difficult work. I personally was decently satisfied with the type of work, but if retail isn't your cup of tea, then you might have a different opinion.
Minpunten
The biggest downside of Menards was the guests and my fellow coworkers. I made some friends there and enjoyed most of my coworkers and managers, but as a woman, I often faced misogyny on a daily basis from customers and other workers. Customers are either the nicest people you'll ever meet or the bane of your existence. Most often they were argumentative and rude, leading me to end most of my shifts with extreme frustration and stress. Working here has been an emotional havoc and I've seen plenty of my female coworkers receive the same treatment; some of who completely crumpled under the stress and had to quit out of concerns for mental health. Shockingly, the company also hired back an employee that had been fired for unfair treatment of his subordinate after she continuously refused his advances. Be prepared to also encounter bigots and racists on a weekly basis when it comes to workers and customers alike. While management did work to stop this behavior, most of the behavior wasn't enough to justify reporting out of fear of being seen as an instigator. Only outwardly extreme behaviors were ever officially reported. TLDR; The work itself is good and so is the pay, but the job is extremely stressful and not for the weak willed. This job will eat you up emotionally and mentally.
