Pluspunten
-Office is at Waterfront station. -You can get off at 3 pm in most positions -With the high turnover, you will make some great lifetime friends and connections/network that will be useful in this city -They tend to hire good, friendly people that go out of their way to help you, which makes it bearable to come to work. -After being here, you will be prepared for anything life throws at you.
Minpunten
-Prepare to be micromanaged like never before. Preschoolers have more freedom while doing their work. They trust no one. I have heard that people in other departments have fainted under the pressure and constant monitoring. Fights and tears are rampant in the office. Bathroom breaks are monitored. Your calls will be listened to, you will be called into impromptu meetings throughout the day in an attempt to make you more productive, but they end up doing the opposite -I have seen top performers in tears because of sarcastic, abusive management. I have seen managers banging tables and yelling and swearing, perhaps because management wants good performance but then gets jealous when they have to pay out large commissions. Irony much? -Feedback includes racial remarks in an attempt to “make you improve”, mocking your voice amongst other random feedback -You will be lured in by money. Read the contract very carefully. You will not get 45k as on target earnings. On target earnings are perhaps closer to 35k. -There’s so much politics internally- you need to watch your clients and your paycheques like a hawk, or your paycheque will be cut. Be prepared to lose money because of games that are played internally and always keep a record of how much commission you should be making. -Be prepared to hear racial and sexist slurs throughout the day. It is very much a white frat boy culture. Peoples accents are made fun of and women are degraded. All in the name of “getting you to improve”. -They care only about money so they cut corners. Almost everyone is a sales person with very little support staff. There is no functioning HR because if there was, there would be complaints against management everyday. -They are so obsessed with numbers, that they lose sight of the big picture which is that relationship building and transparency are the key to selling. Focus on a happy, healthy workforce and you will get the results and the revenue you want. -For the work that is expected, the pay is very minimal. You’d be better of working retail or in a fast food restaurant. -There are no vacation and sick days that anyone is aware of in the first year. They think if no one knows about them, nobody will get sick ever. Not sure if this is legal? -For a “software” company their software is old and beat up. Improving this will again improve morale and improve the revenue.
