Pluspunten
Pretty easy for your sunset years as an engineer. You aren’t expected to deliver much and there is little to no management accountability for deadlines. I guess you would call it good “work/life balance”. Definitely the least stress I’ve ever had in any company of similar size.
Minpunten
Engineering management really has no clue what they’re doing. Steve knows the market great and the fabs run flawlessly so production is nailed down. Microchip would shine if they gutted the middle and hired real tough-nut managers with agile experience. Microchip definitely would have to pay a lot better though. R&D productivity is probably at 30% if that. Companies should have zero tolerance for managers that suppress calls for continuous improvement and value their own personal ego over the customer.
