Pluspunten

- Quick interview process - Fairly decent PTO. Employees were encouraged to use their hours by the end of the year.

Minpunten

-Frequent employee turnover and sudden firings. There seems to be no logic or reason to who stayed or who was fired off the team, and employees were often fired suddenly with little explanation given. In my nearly 2 years working there I watched about 7 employees get fired from various departments with little to know warning. Staff was explicitly forbidden from talking about these firings with each other, and was pressured to take up all concerns with management, as any discussion otherwise could possibly lead to disciplinary action. -Work culture wise overtime is practically a standard (1.5x pay is given). Anytime call volume was higher than expected (which was often) employees were pressured daily to sacrifice personal time and work overtime in order to make up for the overload in calls. This was often made worse by random staff firings, as these firings would often coincide with periods of extremely high call volume. During these times, the remaining staff was expected to pick up the fired employee's workload without missing a beat for NO additional pay or bonuses. I repeat, management would fire employees at the worst times, put that person's workload on the remaining staff, and WOULD NOT offer any additional pay or benefits for the massive increase in workload that was put on the staff. - Management liked to refer to the team as a "family", and used this term in the most manipulative way possible. The guise of "family" was used to pressure employees to work overtime and come in to work while sick. The use of the term was made more ironic when "family members" were fired for seemingly random reasons with little warning. As an employee I have been pressured to come in to work sick, as I was told staying home would put undue pressure on my work "family". "Optional" work events are also a cause for concern, as though they are labelled as optional, employees will be pressured to go, and failure to attend will be seen as a lack of "participation with the family". Though this doesn't come with any explicit reprimands, I have seen situations where employees were seemingly punished for not attending. For example, there was a company dinner/event that we were going to close early for, but one employee chose not to attend. In retaliation for this, management chose to stay open for the entire workday and made that employee work the phones by himself while everyone else went to the dinner/event. - During the lockdown, I opted to work from home, as I had vulnerable family members and at the time the vaccine was not yet a thing. During this time, the team was working remotely and our productivity was just as high working remotely as in the office. Despite this, management moved to reopen the office and have all staff work on-site. At the time I expressed my concerns, but was told strict covid guidelines would be put in place. I expressed my doubt to my manager, who assured me that covid guidelines would definitely be taken seriously. This was not the case. Despite there being signs requiring masks and social distancing, most of the management did not care to wear their masks or practice social distancing. - During the interview and hiring process I was told there was room for growth. This is 100% NOT TRUE. During my time as an employee I felt like a task rabbit, simply doing simple and repetitive tasks non stop until the day ended. - Health care benefits are HORRIBLE. I will admit, I don't know the most about how health insurance works, and I'm fairly young, but all I know is at my current position I pay less than half of what I did for health insurance at Mode 5, and my benefits are SO MUCH better.

Thank you for your feedback. We take employee separations seriously, which is why we have a detailed confidential coaching process between the manager and employee. We understand on the outside it might appear sudden but much thought and internal discussion is done with separation considered only as a last result. Employee retention is also an important focus for Mode5. In recent years turnover levels have continued to drop and remain below industry averages. We understand that workloads can vary throughout the year and Mode5 has made strategic staffing changes to better respond. We have invested in additional workforce allowing for more coverage and reduced employee workloads in key departments. This has greatly reduced our need for overtime and potential employee burnout. We understand the challenge and uncertainty for many during the pandemic. Mode5 strived to carefully balance the safety of our employees with the needs of the business during that time. We had learning lessons navigating this and we appreciate your feedback. In the end we had optimal results in keeping staff safe, providing job security while still meeting the goals of the business. Great people to work with. Get every other Friday off. Constant opportunities to learn a lot in the IT field.

Minpunten

Some people can’t handle not being spoon fed because it does require a lot of figuring out new problems.

Pluspunten

Minpunten

- Toxic workplace environment - Management is insulated and does not care about the concerns of employees - Low pay compared to competition - Clearly a profit driven company that will gladly treat their employees as commodities while spewing their nonsense “corporate values”
