Pluspunten
I have been at MMB in various roles (full-time, part-time and ambassador) for almost three years.
Pros:
- You are treated as an equal and not just as an employee
- You get to choose your career path.
- You have access to the management team and founders. The company has a very flat organizational structure and is very transparent
- You learn a lot in a short period, and although the learning curve is steep, the team is patient.
- Your opinions matter, and you can shape the future of the company, especially its strategy.
- The work is challenging, stimulating and meaningful. Your intellectual rigour develops rapidly there.
- Continued learning is part of the company culture
- The founders support your academic and career aspirations out of work. The team maintains excellent relationships with ex-employees (once part of the family, always part of the family)
- The team is supportive, and the leaders are humble
- You get to work for a company that is transforming the lives of people by helping reverse brain drain in Africa.
Minpunten
- The founders are among the smartest people I know and are also very careful when it comes to significant decisions. At times I've wished decisions could be made a little faster, but I understand why they are not.
- As someone who's worked both on-site and remotely, I think more one-on-ones and feedback for remote workers would be helpful. In other words, communication with remote employees can be improved to be more in-line with the communication with on-site employees.
