The most significant "con" is the current Education leadership and this continued push for nonsensical, out-of-touch initiatives. Under this leadership, the department has steadily declined; we have endured numerous rounds of layoffs while the responsibilities of instructors have increased exponentially. Despite these mounting pressures, the expectations for student retention remain the same, creating an environment that feels more like education is a secondary goal. While they claims to have an "open door," the reality is that any feedback or new ideas are immediately shut down. I have heard this from colleagues at every level, and it aligns perfectly with my own personal experiences. I honestly believe education leadership has no idea what is actually happening on the ground. I could go on, but to keep this professional and relevant: I believe that we are damaging the MyCC Brand. Even in writing this, I fear being more specific because the current atmosphere is one where employees are terrified of losing their jobs for speaking up. Nepotism at MYCC is also an issue; while it is mostly outside of the Education department for now, it is clear that you cannot move up in this company unless you are related to someone.
