Unstable tech company — this is a newer start-up company that is primary backed by investors and is transitioning to profitability on its own. Lay offs - yes I was laid off, but had they simply just stopped hiring for the past year, they wouldn’t have needed to lay off anyone — very reckless and immature. This lay off felt different than a normal layoff would have felt — they had a meeting with all managers about a month prior, where they likely discussed these layoffs. Interestingly enough, my manager had mentioned after these meeting that he hasn’t heard anything about layoffs “eyes/looking emoji”. Around the same time we had to send a sheet of all the extra activities that we were doing and submit them to upper management. Lastly, this happened the week before the return to working in the office. All of this leads me to believe this was work of at least a month in advance — very shady and would never consider working here as I now see Next and untrustworthy. Ultra progressive political agenda — I consider myself a more moderate democrat, but most people who work here are ultra progressive in their political beliefs. Tbh, even I felt way out of place working here. Sending dumb surveys to insureds and claimants — want to know why commercial auto was the most unprofitable line of business?? Because Next sends out a ridiculous survey of every single claim, I’d estimate that I paid 5%-10% more on average for each claim to resolve than at previous insurance carriers that I worked for. By making surveys a metric, you are forcing all the adjusters to over-spend on their claims all in order to receive a good survey. Yes, feedback is important, but more so is profitability. If Next does not get rid of at least the third party/claimant surveys, I do not see this company existing in its current form in 5-7 years. Micromanagement to the extreme — my first manager was the worst manager I’ve ever dealt with. Extremely condescending and micromanager! Update: Next Insurance’s legal department is now falsely claiming that I have committed a felony, harassed me after my unceremonious termination and continue to bully me. Next is requesting documentation of data being deleted off the laptop, but I signed an agreement certifying that I have deleted such data. No where in our separation does it state that I must send over physical proof and they truly have been so aggressive and threatening in their tactics to have me do something that I’m not required to do per our separation agreement. What a ruthless company!

Best Culture and best people - Super collaborative culture. The people are nice, greta team players and extremely talented. Great place to learn from seasoned professionals. You will grow and get better as a professional. Constantly being challenged

Minpunten

No real cons but the company sets aggressive goals and has high expectations for performance. I do not see this as a negative, but some people are unable to keep up with the pace

The acquisition has impacted the company very negatively. The only focus is selling more policies but not making sure there are enough hands on deck to handle the increased work load. No positions are available to grow. Its just like every other large insurance carrier now. Every other day someone is leaving the company. And I just feel like i dont matter anymore. My opinions dont matter. Sat with multiple higher ups last year to address concerns for absolutely no reason. Even benefits that made the job worth it such as internet reimbursement is leaving. A whole meeting last year stating about how “positive” and “beneficial” this acquisition would be for us and it’s been nothing of the sort. I feel let down.
