Pluspunten

1. Food provided when the offices were still open (pre covid) 2. Great colleagues who become close friends while sharing& similar horrible experiences at work. 3. Amenities in the office meant to keep employees there for as long as possible.

Minpunten

HR: What's that? No such thing.
No HR to hold the leadership accountable to basic necessities like vacation days, good insurance, regular/ fair pay raises, international rules and regulations etc.
 1. CEO's swear constantly at employees with no repercussions. 2. All raises go through the CEOs and they will give raises based on their opinion of employees with no regard for actual work that people do - just based on whether you are considered an 'A' in their books or not. Over the last couple years there have been no real pay hikes across the board. 3. Insurance and other benefits are extremely bad but not really looked into since all senior management are on their spouses insurance and couldn't careless. 4. The CEO's have used green cards for international employees as leverage to get them to do more work and rewarded the green card only if you submitted to the 'personal development' they wanted to see from them. They openly talk about how 'it is what it is and if you don't like it, you can get out. When multiple employees left after seeing this double standard, the ceo's passed it off as a 'trade offs' 5. Recruiting is done as a side role by a team who has other full time jobs and thus no time to really get the best candidates or recruit other than from campus. No lateral recruiting since they want candidates who can be molded the way they want and don't know any other way. Work Life Balance: What's that? No such thing
While regular days don't end before 7pm, 'late days' are expected a few times a week and can end anywhere from 9pm to midnight. Management will send emails over the weekend and it is expected that they hear back right away regardless of what day/time. During the work week, projects are expected to be done within a day at times in the name of speed and thus there is no concept of long term projects and no follow through. Taking days off are exceptionally difficult with certain managers and new projects are given based on if you are deemed an 'A' - which really is based on how much time they see you in the office. Timelines:
Projects/pages are built continuously based on some feeling that CEO's have or some anecdotal evidence with absolutely no research, proof or planning. Leadership claims to be making data driven decisions, but really all the data is coming from one or two people's guts. All deadlines are 'end of day' by default. This means everything that is built is a scrappy version that's not scalable and is an embarrassment for the engineer forced to build it. Poor Management: There is absolutely no trust. You are expected to send daily summaries, have slides for hour long scrums 3 times a week, send updates over slack every day and write two emails calls 'On My Mind' (OMM). The OMM is supposed to be a candid exchange between you and your manager to discuss your progress, impediments, state of mind etc. so they can help you grow and do better. But God forbid it actually be used for that. OMMs are constantly forwarded to people you didn't want to share it with. Most times there is no response to your OMM - it's just enforced to make the stats look good in case the co-CEOs decide to review. Senior managers will criticize you for 'low calorie' OMMs, yet not bother actually addressing any problems you bring up. Waste of time. Just another way to micromanage. Feedback: They can't take it For a CEO pair that is trying to build a whole new business based around the culture of feedback - the CO-CEO’s react extremely negatively towards feedback that they receive to the extent of threatening to find out who gave the anonymous feedback to sending an email that says - ' You haven't been in our shoes, so get out (their language was worse but glassdoor doesn't allow for it)'. The hypocrisy that they exhibit when it comes to feedback, humility, being a 'family' has become more and more obvious over the last 2 years. The CEO’s have been told in a 100 different ways over the last 2 years how unhappy nxj'ers are but they don't seem to care and keep telling themselves how employees don’t really know what they want but the CEO’s know best. In the last one year, close to 30+ full time employees have left for similar frustrations. And still, co-CEOs keep saying "we can operate with just 4 people". They openly say they don’t care if people leave and they are surrounded by a team of yes-men (called MV21) who don't dare point out they might be wrong. It's a blatant dictatorship. Stay away from this company if you value yourself and your mental health.

Pluspunten

The staff is on mission. It's very very refreshing

Minpunten

They might be perceived as opportunistic because they devote so much to others outside the company. And they push people (professionally and personally) to the point of failure/innovation to prove they can get better.
