Pluspunten
The opportunity to help people with disabilities is the main pro of working here, but the support and generosity of the agency itself makes it that much more of an awesome place to work. The benefits package is especially excellent. Medical and dental are provided to the employee FREE of cost and raises are given to all employees annually. I work in the residential care department, so the bonds I've made are priceless, and I actually enjoy working there. Management is good, the HR dept.'s good, as well as the admin deptartment. Overall, it's wonderful working at NextStep.
Minpunten
The income is much lower than deserved, however it is non-profit agency so the compensation is provided through DMH, grants, donations, and state funding. The staff turnover rate in residential is pretty high which often results in being understaffed and overworked. I spend the majority of my time at work, often working 50-60hrs/week, which wouldn't be ideal for someone with a family and kids.
