They have a practice of hiring people into roles, transferring them from other states with moving packages and then doing a bait and switch in the role soon after employees arrive. They do this because they can't find local talent to do the work and they don't want to fund external consultants.
The moving package comes with a one-sided contract. If you leave before the contractual agreement ends, they will steal your last paycheck and make you repay the moving costs even if they were the ones in the wrong. Additionally, if you decide to take legal action, you are liable for their lawyers' fees.
As I heard from my co-workers when I exited this unethical company, I was not the only person who had experienced this in the past couple of years.
