Note: I worked mainly with graphics engineers and QA in the company. I worked on 4 AAA games as an Optimization Programmer. Insomniac Engine: - Spider-Man Remastered PC - Spider-Man Miles Morales PC - Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart PC Decima Engine: - Horizon Forbidden West PC I consider myself to be a nerdy person who has a lot of interest in computer hardware, software engineering and games. From the moment I started I felt like these are my kind of people. First lunch at the company talking about keyboards and telling jokes, etc. Very friendly, open and helpful colleagues, manager and CEO. Management(Lead of the project and the principal optimization engineer who was my sub-lead) actually cares about employees, imagine that! After the first year my manager gave me a "below target" rating. I thought thats it and my contract will terminate. But they thought I had potential so instead they spend time to analyze what the issues were and came up with an improvement plan for me. It was so well put together and helped me so much in understanding myself! The next year my performance review was at "Key Contributor" and everyone was happy. Best year of my entire professional life to date. The social hierarchy is flat but the professional hierarchy is very strict. In a good way. I would just say this, when I made a stupid bug and I was afraid that users will hit it, I was stressing out. Then all the higher ups came and told me hey, we are all responsible, we approved that change. It is on us. QA and even Jurjen(CEO). Sometimes you might get rough feedback(Dutch people are known for it), but knowing that the higher ups had my back I realized what has to be done and I just tried to improve myself.

You might wonder why I left if it was that much of an amazing workplace. I was offered a permanent contract at the end of the 2 years. Well I always wanted to do new things and have somewhat of a research role. It was a hard decision to make, but it was my own decision for my career. If you hate puns stay away from the Graphics team :)
