Job roles and responsibilities are either very strictly, or very poorly defined. Mine was the latter. This was coupled with minimal resources to receive adequate on the job training. The lack of resources was shocking especially after coming from a well-structured company within the same industry. If you value any amount of structure, make sure there is appropriate training for your role before taking an offer. There were definitely issues with management as well. It was not uncommon to hear managers speaking poorly of other managers to their direct reports. Many managers did not communicate well with the managers of other groups, which made cross functional work as an employee rather challenging. There was quite a bit of turnover post merger.

Everything. Don’t work in that machine shop. New manager that has never managed before. Guy will lie to your face and throw you under the bus to make himself look good. He’s been working on a do as I say not as I do environment. No CNC machines. All manual. Primitive tooling. Head engineer will downgrade your skills and experience. His father was even worse. Find another shop as this one is close to closing. Bonuses were discontinued and health insurance doubled.
