Pluspunten

Exposure to a variety of functions due to being a small start up which can really give an insight into all different departments within a company that you wouldn’t get from a larger business.

Minpunten

Lack of transparency, clarity, and support from members of the senior team and there are lots of elements of blame culture. Many issues raised are ignored or masked as ‘not being able to handle start up life’ instead of being dealt with. Hard work is rewarded by nothing but more work. No perks or benefits for most staff -for example parking is for senior managers only and not even subsidised for other staff (despite regularly being raised as an issue), team dinners/socials are only organised for senior managers with nothing for other teams or the whole company other than at Christmas, which can feel elitist.

The whole team Open Blend is so talent and using their experience to all pull in the same direction in delivering an amazing product and user experience to market. We're all aware that there will be some extremely busy and challenging time but we work well together to achieve common goals and support each other wherever required. There's a great sense of community at Open Blend, bringing together people and personalities from loads of different cultures and backgrounds. A real team spirit. A huge pro is to be part of an very exciting journey. We are doing something that is making waves in business and having a hugely positive impact on the business we work with. A massive plus in my role is working with amazing clients that are passionate about their people and creating positive employee experience through initiatives like Open Blend.

Minpunten

A busy, fast paced environment isn't for everyone. We could be working on something that could change in the blink of an eye (with valid reasons I will add) and you need to stay close to where things are at times. Be prepared to see things through. If you have an idea, it's not always possible to call on very broad expertise like you can within larger organisations. Being a start-up, there's a level of administrative responsibilities that you cannot avoid and while this is becoming easier over time, it mean some processes are not there yet or a little laborious.
