I had good team mates and we pulled together continuously to get the job done. The company has scope to be so much more but let's be brutally honest: Optos is a case study in wasted potential. The company survives on the fumes of its legacy technology and the dedication of lower and mid-level employees who actually care about the work. Yes, the retinal imaging tech is medically important, and sure, they have initiatives like environmental policies for reduce, re-use, recycle - but these crumbs of positivity are dwarfed by the rot at the top. The only "pro" worth mentioning is that surviving here will teach you what not to tolerate in your career.

The leadership culture is a petri dish of toxicity. We're talking about executives who've fossilized in their roles, wielding intimidation as management strategy and promoting based on sycophancy rather than skill. The leadership is a masterclass in how to strangle innovation and demoralize talent. The title inflation is particularly insidious - they dangle fancy job names like carrots while offering no real growth, leaving employees with hollow resumes that savvy recruiters and future employers immediately see through. To anyone considering Optos: Don't do it. This is not a company where talent thrives—it’s where careers go to stall. The leadership will exploit your hard work while offering nothing in return but empty titles and burnout. If you’re early in your career, you’ll learn all the wrong lessons about workplace norms. If you’re experienced, you’ll watch your skills atrophy under stagnant management. There are far better companies out there—ones that value growth, respect employees, and have leaders actually worth following. Don’t waste your time here. Your future self will thank you for looking elsewhere
