Communication among team and management could have been improved. When position is eliminated due to economic times, you are let go with no severance. Even though Indiana is an “at-will” employment state: generally an employer or employee can end employment at any time for any reason. Although, many employers choose to offer severance when they terminate someone for reasons other than misconduct or performance, Oscar Winski does not. I would highly recommend when searching for a company to always look at their severance policy. Review your employment agreement or handbook: Does it promise severance? What are the conditions (years of service, reasons for termination, etc)?
