- It's pretty easy to arrange for time off unless it is last minute and we are really busy
- Recent updates to the system have made it easier to manage queues without needing outside help from CSRs
- You get papers on a wide variety of topics and use many different style guides, which helps with gaining experience
Minpunten
- Work fluctuates from slow periods to really busy periods
- Base pay is not great, especially if you don't end up working the full 40 hours per week
- I found it difficult to keep up with the recommended word count completion per day, which made it hard to earn profit share (based on documents completed)
- Editors have set schedules (either morning, afternoon/evening, or overnight), which meant I didn't have evenings or weekends free
- At least a few editors are needed to work holidays, although it's based on whoever volunteers, but there tend to be few volunteers on holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving
- Particularly when documents are ESL, it can be difficult to understand what the author meant to say, and our only option is to leave suggestions on what they may have meant, whereas these types of documents could probably benefit from one-on-one communication to get the correct meaning across
