Nepotism + favoritism + ageism + blind faith = dysfunction. After making record profits in 2018, Sony Interactive Entertainment (also known as PlayStation) laid off a bunch of talented hardworking people a year later. Do you really want to work for a company that acts like that ? I heard Facebook and Google are hiring…. Sony is just another stupid corporation, and it is top-heavy with executives and directors. Like any other corporation, they treat staff unfairly, as there is a culture of nepotism, favoritism, ageism, and blind faith. Many older employees have been pushed out since 2015. Problems fester for years because the overpaid execs are too lazy to actually care. I was at Sony for 10+ years and I saw many smart, experienced people lose their jobs. Sony has a history of dumping smart, talented people. Their constant use of temp staff is extremely unethical. Sony has improved a little over the years, but it still has the common corporate problems: age discrimination, negative and chaotic management, lack of direction, lack of planning; lack of work-life balance. SONY Interactive is a nice place to work when you are young and need experience. But it’s best to move on ASAP and get a job at Google, NVIDIA, Facebook, or Apple instead. Don’t bother waiting for a promotion, because for many people it will never come.….You’re better off jumping ship and going to some other company. Maybe in twenty years they will figure out how to grow up and be a smart company. All the free popcorn and t-shirts won’t make up for the bad karma Sony has earned. Even when they make huge profits, much of that money gets sucked back to Sony headquarters in Tokyo, so your raise and bonus is not as great as it should be.Sony is still suffering from bad decisions that were made back in 2006 by upper management. Directors don’t listen to staff, and they don’t take time to communicate to the staff. Petty and passive-agressive behavior is standard among upper management. Sony is still having growing pains.
