The company has an old codebase (over 10 years) with AngularJs and Angular2+ mixed together. The code is very poorly structured, and it’s impossible to figure out what’s going on, so even really small tasks end up taking hours, while at the same time there’s pressure from management. The business is a mess, and it's really hard to make sense of it because there's an unbelievable amount of jargon surrounding renewable energy. One of the worst things I could mention is the constant meetings. Almost every day there are two meetings that tie up the entire team and serve no purpose, resulting in the loss of valuable time. That’s exactly what happens in a micromanagement environment. There is incredible pressure to deliver, while at the same time all that time is wasted in meetings and the managers are pushing us. The company has shifted heavily toward AI, and the directive was essentially not to write code but to use AI to do it and try to figure out if it did it well. Result? If someone is new to the company, they won’t be able to figure it out.
