Pluspunten

Basic intro to healthcare facilities and the main demographics of patients in Ottawa Not many medical skills required, so you get to focus on bedside manner and becoming familiar with local geography There are supposed to be a lot of improvements coming soon since it was bought out by a corporation. Management is starting to be held to higher standards (compared to what previous employees from years past have described). Very recently added a small health benefits package (with a high premium per paycheck).

Minpunten

You'll get paid more with way more benefits working in housekeeping or as a porter for local hospitals. Not many medical skills required is a con! Will find yourself in situations that you and/or your partner won't know how to recognize or assist and if you do know how to assist, you are not compensated for appreciated for your knowledge. False sense of moving up in the company. If employees are being told a raise is not an option, they can't afford to hire any new management in today's market. Most management has been around for many years and aren't going anywhere Lots of employees don't take the opportunity to grow their knowledge and become complacent or overly confident in their "skills" that they learned in training and never cared to improve. Management is very detached from employees. There is a false sense of community hidden under many layers of interpersonal frustration between employees and management. False sense of moving up in the company. If they can't afford to give anyone a raise, they can't afford new management in today's job market. Extra responsibilities are typically dispersed between existing employees without any additional compensation.

Pluspunten

Very nice atmosphere, surrounded by good people for the most part. Friendly and welcoming to all

Minpunten

First off, the wage is fake. Everything from the truck repairs to the shift management is a mess, went in for a $21.5/hr wage and they convinced me it’d add up to it with overtime and bonuses. No, I’m making 17.5 an hour. I tried to work overtime and they eventually stoped giving me the full week of shifts so they can avoid overtime pay. It’s an extremely expensive service. I hear complaints on expenses all the time and somehow we make back only a tiny fraction of what we make for the company. Where’s the money go? Not the trucks. Not the wheelchairs. Sure as heck isn’t the fake advertised wage.
