Joining proSapient in Lisbon when the company was still in its early stages, around 20 people, was one of the most formative experiences of my career. I joined as a 24-year-old Associate, eager to learn but with limited exposure to the realities of client-facing work. From day one, I was trusted with meaningful responsibilities and given opportunities that accelerated my professional development far beyond what I expected. Rather than being shielded from clients early in my career, I was encouraged to engage directly with them, participate in meetings, manage expectations, and understand the nuances of delivering value in a fast-paced commercial environment. That early exposure opened my eyes to the professional world. It taught me the fundamentals of client management, stakeholder communication, problem-solving under pressure, and the importance of building trust. More importantly, it allowed me to compound experience at an accelerated pace. Every project, conversation, and challenge became an opportunity to learn. One of the most unique aspects of my experience at proSapient was the level of access and responsibility I was given. The company connected me with C-suite executives and senior decision-makers from some of the world's leading organizations. Those interactions taught me how to navigate high-stakes conversations, understand executive priorities, and adapt my communication style to different audiences. It was, in many ways, where I learned how to "dance the tango" of stakeholder management—balancing client needs, business objectives, and operational realities. As I progressed from Associate to Account Manager, my responsibilities evolved significantly. I moved from supporting projects to owning client relationships, leading strategic accounts, and managing teams. The trust placed in me enabled me to develop leadership skills early in my career, learning not only how to manage clients but also how to coach colleagues, coordinate teams, and drive outcomes in complex situations. Looking back, proSapient gave me much more than professional experience. It gave me a framework for understanding what excellence looks like: high standards, accountability, ownership, and a relentless focus on delivering value. The combination of early responsibility, exposure to senior stakeholders, and opportunities for leadership created an environment where growth was not only possible but expected. My journey from Associate to Account Manager was defined by continuous learning, increasing responsibility, and the confidence that comes from being trusted to operate beyond your years. The lessons I learned there continue to shape how I approach leadership, client relationships, and professional development today.

My perspective is specific to the Lisbon office, which I recognize operates within a broader business context. Lisbon is understandably an attractive location for companies looking to build talented teams at a more accessible cost base. However, I believe that as employees progress in their careers and take on increasing levels of responsibility, often managing client accounts, projects, and people simultaneously, compensation should evolve accordingly to reflect that growth and contribution. A particular challenge in Portugal is the country's tax framework, which can significantly impact take-home pay. Given that bonuses are an important component of the compensation model, I believe there is an opportunity for the company to explore these dynamics in greater depth. Partnering with strong local accounting and legal advisors could help identify compliant and efficient approaches that maximize the value of compensation packages for employees while remaining aligned with local regulations.
