Pluspunten
Just to note, I worked for the Digital Innovation Group - a small, startup-ish organization within the larger Providence family. Plenty of fun, friendly people to work with. The mission is great and presents a wonderful alternative to soulless ecommerce or "sharing economy" companies doing nothing of actual value. Managers and hours are flexible.
Minpunten
The organization seems to have little idea what it's trying to accomplish. Bigwigs from much higher in the Providence org (who come from a healthcare background and know nothing about developing software) were constantly pulling us in different directions and clearly had no idea what investments and tradeoffs are necessary in building functional software. Squeaky wheel customers were frequently getting the grease, to the exclusion of building a better, more widely applicable product. HR and current line-level managers seem intent on importing as many ex-Amazon employees as possible and clearly have the belief that however Amazon does things is the "correct" way. Executives within the DIG organization come off unintentionally as hucksters, with constant meaningless tech-jargon re: "disrupting" etc etc, and they lack any clearly defined (or at least explainable) vision.
